share save 171 16 Book of Mormon Continues to Dominate

Even if you’ve been living under a rock for the past four months, you’ve still probably heard of The Book of Mormon, the satirical musical by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. That’s just how big it has gotten. And the numbers are there to back it up.

According to ticketnews.com, The Book of Mormon locked up the Top Broadway spot this week in the TicketNews rankings for the 18th week in a row. TicketNews ranks each Broadway show with a power ranking that reflects total ticket sales for the event as well as total ticket sales relative to all other Broadway shows. This week, The Book of Mormon scored a 27.15. Wicked was second with a ranking of 14.35, only slightly more than half of that of The Book of Mormon.

That’s not all. For the fifth week in a row, the Eugene O’Neill Theater, home of The Book of Mormon, came in first in TicketNews’ exclusive venue rankings. This accounts for not only Broadway venues, but sporting venues, concert venues, and every single other ticket-selling venue in the country. Scoring second was FedEx Field in Washington DC, home of the Washington Redskins, and the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas came in third. That is pretty serious competition, and for the fifth straight week, the Eugene O’Neill Theater was able to beat it out.
