For most, one platinum-selling band would be enough. But Dave Grohl isn’t like most.
Grohl, the front man for the smash band Foo Fighters, was, many moons ago, bashing the drums for grunge rock kings Nirvana. After Kurt Cobain’s death in April 1994, the band was no more. It didn’t take long for Grohl to start his next project: he started recording some of his own songs later that year, and in July 1995, he released an eponymous album under the name Foo Fighters. The album quickly generated interest, and Grohl put a band together for a tour. The rest, as they say, is history.
Six studio albums later, Foo Fighters are still on top. In fact, their recent album, Wasting Light, debuted at #1, their first album to do so. They are now set to release their third single off the album, and the first two, “Rope” and “Walk,” each made it to number one on Billboard’s rock chart. The Fighters also just headlined the 2011 Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, playing a two-hour, epic, rain-soaked set for tens of thousands of fans.
In between, Foo Fighters have had tons of success as well. Their hard-rocking, edgy, but still melodic style has riveted fans for over fifteen years. Classic Foo Fighters songs include “This is a Call,” “Monkey Wrench,” “Hey, Johnny Park!,” “Everlong,” “Learning to Fly,” “Break Out,” “Times Like These,” “Best of You,” and many, many more. Albums The Colour and The Shape, There is Nothing Left to Lose, One by One, In Your Honor, and Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace have all been widely successful both critically and commercially. By all accounts, Foo Fighters have been one of the top rock bands of the last two decades.
Foo Fighters are on tour now, and will be touring until November 16th. Never seen them live? You’re missing out. Get your tickets on Dynamictickets.net!
