The Metropolitan Opera House, which is in its 127th season, has been known as a home to some of the greatest talent of all time. The original and gifted artists included singers, conductors, composers, orchestra musicians, stage directors, designers, visual artists, choreographers, and dancers from around the world. The Met is a venue known for its wide variety of entertainers but holds strong to its Opera roots.
La Boheme is four Acts and was written by Giacomo Puccini and first performed in 1896, it is a microcosm of life. It looks at life as it is, but shows at the same time the possibilities for greatness and love in all of us. If you like La Boheme you may also like Tosca. Shows start February 17, 2011 and lasts only until March 25, 2011.
Tosca is a three Act play originally written by Giacomo Puccni which premiered January 14, 1900 in Teatro Costanzi, Rome. Luc Bondy’s dramatic new production of Tosca returns, with Sondra Radvanovsky singing the title role for the first time at the Met. Also appearing are Violeta Urmana, Marcelo Álvarez, Salvatore Licitra, Falk Struckmann, and James Morris. If you like Tosca you may also like Rigoletto. The show begins February 15, 2011 and only lasts until November 12, 2011.
Rigoletto is another three Act play written by Giuseppe Verdi. The Verdi favorite returns with great casts, including Diana Damrau, Joseph Calleja, Giuseppe Filianoti, and Željko Lucic. This show opens March 25, 2011 and lasts through June 26, 2011.
